CHILEAN MAUSER SYMBOLS CODE
This manufacturer's code always appears as three lower case letters, usually over a two digit date code. Late ina number of German factories stopped dating with a '44' and used just a single '4', presumably to eliminate the labor to make the extra '4'. Value will depend upon condition and matching parts. Steyr, Mauser 'byf', 'svw' and Brno 'dot' were the last major producers of 98k's in and the Mauser and Brno output was dedicated to the German Army. Some factories had multiple offices, and some articles were made up of parts inspected at different factories, explaining multiple WaA numbers on a single firearm. Does anyone have any idea of the value of this rifle? It also appears on war material made at factories under Steyr supervision, such as the Radom factory in Poland. I have a Mauser model 98, that i believe was manufactured in with only 4 digits to the serial number.

Privacy Policy.View Full Version : Model 98 Mauser. Does the number block indicate anything, such as year? Or was it just an administrative thing to distinguish production blocks? Right now it's field strip getting cleaned, so the only pic I have on my phone isn't the best, but here it is. Forgot to mention it's one of those Mosqueton short rifles. They would say DWM as the manufacturer instead of Loewe. As far as the ZAR Boer rifles that were unable to be delivered to the ZAR due to the British blockade and later used to finish of the Chilean order, they would not have any Chilean markings except for the crest and possibly the acceptance stamp on the stock.

Join Date Feb Posts 1, The Chilean long rifles seem to have serial numbers without the leading zeros, while the Argentine serial numbers seem to have leading zeros.Įach letter prefix consisted of 10, rifles, so Dxxx would be from 30, to 31, from the start of the contract i. Join Date Dec Posts 6, I believe the Chilean Mausers had the year in the cartouche on the left side of the butt. The one I have is a "D" with a 3 digit SN. Is there an online reference guide for these? Anyone know what they indicate? So far the only thing I've found is that those with a "C" block number were intended for South Africa. What I'm curious about is the SN block number. The working parts are in good service order as is the bore and all the SNs I've seen on it match except one. It is in decent condition but sadly the Chilean crest isn't in the best shape. There's nothing special about this one as far as I know. I like the rifle yet have never done any research into it. I'm leaning toward later but the alignment is very good.Remember Me? What's New? Forum Gunboards. It's hard to tell if that D was stamped at the same time as the numbers or later. Looks like ZB must have had more lion crest receivers than they needed for the Czechoslovak Army, so they threw some into the export rifles. According to your post it would be correct? I have a VZ24 with the Czech lion crest, and a serial number of D It has no Czech acceptance stamps, but it does have a Romanian MC on the bottom.
